Welcome!

My name is Preston Crow. I moved to Ashland in 1999, and I love this town. Whether walking in the Town Forest, bicycling with the Ashland Bike Club, shopping at the Farmer's Market, or enjoying the events and resources at the Ashland Library, this town is wonderful. With my wife, Catherine, we're raising our son Mason here. He is now at the Middle School, and we're thrilled with the support he receives in our outstanding schools.

I believe it is our duty in a democracy to participate, and I've voted in almost every town election and attended almost every Town Meeting since we've moved here. In 2005, I was elected to the Planning Board, and completed my third term in 2020, having spent the last several years as the Chair. I've worked hard to make new developments follow the rules and do the best they can to improve our town while always making sure residents' voices are heard.

I served as the Ashland Planning Board's representative to the MetroWest Regional Collaborative. This organization brings members of Planning and Select Boards together to discuss regional issues, giving us a chance to see that our neighboring communities are facing many of the same issues and to work together to solve them, and gave me much broader insights into municipal government.

In addition to the Planning Board, I was a charter member of the Ashland Sustainability Committee, having worked towards making Ashland a Green Community before the committee was established. I stepped down from that committee to make time for the Ashland Upper Charles Trail Committee, where I'm now working on creating an off-road trail through town as part of a regional trail network.

I'm currently a member of the Conservation Commission where I help review projects in town for compliance with wetlands protection and stormwater management.
